Preparing for Worship: 6/15/26
We see a shift in Luke 9 from various ENCOUNTERS WITH JESUS that reveal who He is along with responses of faith to what it looks like to FOLLOW JESUS.
We will see this pattern of being a disciple start with the "sending" of the 12 Apostles to proclaim the good news and bring healing.
Until now only Jesus has exhibited “power” and “authority”, he alone has proclaimed the kingdom of God and healed. These characteristics are transferred to the Twelve in 9:1-2, signifying their formal investiture with the authority and mission of Jesus. The ministry of the Twelve, like Jesus’ ministry, will be one of word and deed, with primary emphasis on proclaiming the kingdom of God, for which both Jesus and the Twelve were “sent”. - Luke, Pillar Com.
