Preparing for Worship: 8/16/26
Join us for part 2 of what it means to be a disciple of Jesus. Last week we saw who Jesus is and what he accomplished - The Christ and His Cross. This week we will see our response to Jesus with his call to "follow Him”:
And he said to all, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me." - Luke 9:23
It seems that Jesus would make a terrible salesman. In these verses he violates every principle of effective evangelism and every popular church-growth strategy. Any marketer would tell Jesus that if you want people to follow you, you should emphasize the benefits of discipleship and try to draw attention away from whatever attendant costs there might be. But here he leads with the cost of discipleship! - Mike McKinley
